What is a vaccination?

Vaccination is a safe and effective method of protecting yourself from serious diseases before you are exposed to them. It works by strengthening your body’s natural defenses, helping your immune system recognize and fight harmful infections. Vaccines stimulate the production of antibodies, similar to the response your body creates when it encounters a disease naturally, allowing you to build protection without becoming seriously ill.

When should you get vaccinated?

If you are travelling abroad, you may be exposed to infections that your body is not naturally protected against. Getting vaccinated before your trip helps protect you from these potentially serious or even life-threatening diseases.

It is recommended that you receive any necessary vaccinations at least 21 days before travelling to ensure your body has enough time to build effective immunity.

What to expect

Your vaccination appointment will be carried out by one of our experienced Practice Nurses, clinicians, or occasionally a Doctor. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns, and the clinician will clearly explain the benefits and potential risks of the recommended vaccine, including possible side effects.

This consultation is provided free of charge — you will only pay for the vaccination itself. Some vaccines require a series of doses or booster injections for full protection, and your clinician will outline the complete schedule and ensure you understand the recommended course of treatment.
